NRA’s Personal Protection in the Home
Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protections in the Home Handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, NRA’s Concealed Carry Holster Guide.
Topics covered include:
-Introduction to Defensive Shooting
-Basic Defensive Pistol Skills
-Firearms & the Law: Possession, Ownership & the Use of Deadly Force
-Strategies for Home Safety & Responding to a Violent Confrontation
-Selecting a Pistol for Self Defense
-Sport Shooting Activities & Training Opportunities
Course Length 8 Hours (One day)
This Course is geared towards those law-abiding adult citizens that are experience shooters (have a mastery of the basic skills of safe gun handling, shooting a group, zeroing a firearm and cleaning a firearm). AND have sufficient maturity and life experience to be able to assess various situations and make mature decisions. They should have taken either the NRA’s Home Firearm Safety or Basic Pistol Course.
Students also need a “defensive handgun”, ear & eye protection, 120 rounds of factory loaded ammunition.Three magazines for semi-auto handguns.Three speedloaders for revolvers.
Course Fee: $250 plus fee for lawyer/police
Course completion: Students will have live fire as well as a written exam at the end of the course. Students will receive an NRA PPITH certificate. This course is much more involved than the Basic Pistol course, but it is not an ‘approved course’ for the MA LTC/FID card.
